Ace UK trumpeter Damon is here teamed up with one of South Korea's top emigré rhythm sections, who have together toured extensively in Asia and have lately recorded their first CD Sorry It's Just Jazz, being released by 33 records to coincide with this UK tour. With the addition tonight of the superb Ed Jones, afficionados will be treated to echoes of the great British supergroup Killer Shrimp which in 2007 won the Parliamentary Best Jazz Ensemble Award. Grammy-nominated US saxophonist and composer Tim has spent a lifetime of travelling and enhancing his multi-instrumental absorption of world musics. A marquee artist of his generation currently based in New York, he has recorded for Concord, Smalls Live and Whirlwind, and is known for his rich and robust tenor sound and in-the-moment improvisations both steeped in the tradition and true to his own singular voice. He has written for Wynton Marsalis and The Lincoln Center Orchestra as well as countless other bands, and now bares all in this classic saxophone trio format. Michael is a composer, bandleader, producer and record label owner originally from the US and currently based in London. He is known for his versatility and power and described by The Guardian as "virtuosic and emphatic." Austrian Klemens studied drums in Holland and New York with Carl Allen, Ralph Peterson, Greg Hutchinson and Ari Hoenig, before touring and recording with artists such as George Garzone, Seamus Blake, Barry Harris and Kenny Werner. In 2001 he won first prize at the Dutch Leidsche Jazz Awards and in 2003 he moved to New York where he formed his own quartet with Chris Cheek, Aaron Goldberg and Matt Penman, and recorded his own debut album Ocean Avenue. He currently lives in Vienna and tours all over Europe. Crash helmets are advised.

Formed in 2012, they have established themselves as ‘One of Britain’s very finest contemporary quartets’ - Jazzviews. Their music takes the audience on an absorbing journey which effectively marries the exhilaration of spontaneity with intricately sculpted arrangements. While deeply rooted in the jazz tradition, Ridley eschews the usual head/solos/head approach, preferring to create a unique
sound-world from an initial inspiration. At the heart of each
composition is a strong, memorable melodic theme, the realisation of
which draws on many influences for its fullest expression.
Classical, groove-based and ‘world’ musics can all be
distinguished, while ferocious improvisational skills
make for absorbing and entertaining listening. Amazing band, amazing music.
